Ferran Brosa Planella
Senior Research Fellow at WMG (University of Warwick) and PDRA at The Faraday Institution
I am a Senior Research Fellow at WMG of the University of Warwick. My research is on mathematical modelling of lithium-ion batteries, and it is part of the "Multiscale Modelling" Fast Start project of The Faraday Institution, and I am a core developer to the open-source battery modelling software PyBaMM. My research interests are in the general area of heat and mass transfer, with particular interest in industrial applications. I am also interested in working closely with experimentalists to bring together the outputs of the model with experimental data, and help bridging the gap between models and experiments.
I did my PhD at the Centre for Doctoral Training in Industrially Focused Mathematical Modelling (InFoMM) of the University of Oxford, supervised by Dr Robert Van Gorder and Prof Colin Please, and in collaboration with Elkem. My research was on modelling solidification of binary alloys, with application to silicon. Before, I studied a double degree in Mathematics and Industrial Engineering at the Centre de Formació Interdisciplinària Superior of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
